Erica
Waller-Hill, Olympic Hopeful and Professional Educator created the Destined for a Dream Foundation in the summer
of 2008. Waller -Hill, a Bucks County native who currently resides in Philadelphia, felt compelled to give something
back to the youth who share her same passion, focus, perseverance and energy that she displayed during her 2008
Olympic Journey. The foundation's mission is to "inspire and empower youth and young adults through life coaching,"
by providing at- risk youth with opportunities that will help them believe that they hold the power to create and shape
how they live as well as the choices they make. Destined for a Dream will provide projects that interest
our youth and enhance them academically, socially and athletically. To achieve this mission, the foundation supports
a variety of programs including, but not limited to: After School Activities Program, Dream Academy, Mentoring
Programs, Job Training, Healthy Lifestyles, College Prep, the annual Destined for a Dream Scholarship banquet as
well as a Christmas Dream affair, which is an annual family event to support and award scholarships for families
in need of "A Christmas Dream."
DFAD Goals: - Provide educational
programs for under privileged youth in low-income communities;
- Provide
a safe environment for all children and young adults, where they can grow academically, socially and culturally;
- Use sports as a driving force to help develop leadership skills, direction, discipline,
self esteem and teamwork.
