The Arts:  The arts are a vast subdivision of culture, composed of many creative endeavors and disciplines.

Incorporating art into the lives of children is very important for many reasons. Children benefit greatly from the arts and should learn art so they can express their creativity.

Why should your child be involved in drama/theater?

"EVERY student in the nation should have an education in the arts."

       National Parent Teacher Association

"Children involved in the arts are -
4 times more likely to be recognized for academic achievements
4 times more likely to be involved in community service
3 times more likely to have better school attendance."

          Stanford University Research Study

Each Month Destined for a Dream Foundation/Bristol Riverside Theatre, will sponsor several families to enjoy a night at the Theatre.  Some shows are geared towards adults and other shows will be for children.  Please continue to visit our website and register your family on our contact us page. Please include also in comments: Why is it important to involve/expose children/families in the Arts?

Tickets will be given monthly!

This Month:

The Little Prince:  By Rick Cummins & John Scoullar

Based on the book Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Directed by Scott Hitz

  • Recommended for ages 7 and up, minimum age 5
  • Time: 90 minutes (not including 15 minute intermission)

All grown- ups were children once, although few of us remember the wonderment of childhood.  This astonishing and beautiful tale will remind you!  A pilot crashes in the Sahara desert and while frantically trying to repair his wrecked plane he is interrupted by the apparition of a little boy who asks him to draw a sheep. As absurd as it seems, a thousand miles from all inhabited regions and in danger of death, he takes out a scrap of paper and a pen.  And so begins their adventure.

Share this magical journey of love, loss, and laughter with your entire family.

DFAD has tickets for the following shows:

Saturday February 5, 2011 2pm & 8pm

Sunday February 6, 2011 3pm

Friday February 11, 2011 8pm

Saturday February 12, 2011 2pm & 8pm
